1.0 GENERAL RULES
1.1 FIREARMS CODE
Airsoft weapons are covered in the New Zealand Firearms Code. It is the responsibility of the individual to always comply with the law.
1.1.2 LEGAL STATUS
Airsoft weapons are classified as airguns under the Arms Act 1983. No person subject to a Firearms Prohibition Order may use an Airsoft weapon at any TAR event.
1.1.3 TRANSPORT
Airsoft weapons must be transported in a secure case and must not be visible to the public.
1.2 ELIGIBILITY
Minimum age 12 with adult guardian on the field. Age 13+ may play with guardian approval. All players must register and sign a waiver. Players under 18 must have waiver signed by a guardian.
1.2.1 JUNIOR PLAYERS: Players aged 12-17 without a Firearms Licence.
1.2.2 VETERAN PLAYERS: Paid club members for 12+ months who have passed probation.
1.3 PROBATION
12 game days over 1 year required before using weapons over 1.13 joules. Committee may reduce or extend.
1.4 GAME MARSHALS
Follow Marshal instructions at all times. Marshals may stand down players for violations.
1.5 SAFE ZONE
Weapons secured — safety on, magazines removed. Eye protection may be removed in Safe Zone only.
1.7 JOULE LIMITS
All weapons must be chronographed. Maximum 3.33 joules. Probation/Junior players: 1.13 joules maximum.
1.7.4 LMG CLASS: 1.13-1.63J, MED 10m. Veterans only.
1.7.5 DMR CLASS: 1.13-1.63J semi-auto, MED 10m. Veterans only.
1.7.7 SNIPER CLASS: Bolt action up to 3.33J, MED 20m. Veterans only.
1.9 GAME OFF
When called, all play stops immediately. ‘Eyes’ pauses for safety — remain stationary until Marshal restarts.
1.10 HITS
Call ‘Hit!’ loudly and raise hands or show red kill rag when hit.
1.11 HONESTY
If in doubt, take the hit. Three missed hit calls results in stand-down.
2.0 SAFETY GUIDELINES
2.1 EYE PROTECTION
Full-seal impact-rated eye protection must be worn at all times in the Game Zone. ANSI Z87.1+ standard minimum.
2.6 Incendiary devices prohibited without express permission from Marshals and landowner.
2.9 INCIDENT REPORTING
Any injury or serious near-miss must be reported to a Marshal or Committee member immediately.
3.0 CONDUCT & SPORTSMANSHIP
3.1 No alcohol or drugs at any TAR event.
3.2-3.3 No foul language, verbal abuse, or discrimination of any kind.
3.5 Rule violations may result in stand-down, probation, or ban. Appeals in writing to Committee.
3.6 OUTSIDE GAME DAYS
Members represent TAR values at all times. Conduct that impacts the mana of the club may result in investigation.
